The STENA Recycling Process
STENA operates Battery Centers for testing and recycling in Sweden, Germany and Poland. Additional capacities are planned in Italy, Finland, Norway and Denmark. Batteries deemed unfit for a second life are safely stored and monitored until they enter the recycling process. The process consists of the steps opening, serial number and manufacturer documentation, deep discharge, dismantling and raw materials recycling. All types of batteries like LTO, LFP, LMO, NMC, LCO and NCA can be treated in the process. The residual energy extracted from the batteries is either fed back to the grid or used in other recycling processes such as WEEE recycling operations.
