Turning production waste into new panels with EGGER Italy
Partnerships like the one we have with Stena Recycling allow us to turn production waste into high-quality raw materials, such as wood for new panels, supporting circular production. Collaborations like this are essential to reaching our goal of becoming climate neutral by 2050.

Recycled material as an established raw material
As part of the EGGER Group, a leading international wood-based material manufacturer, EGGER Italy has long based its production on wood sourced from separately collected material streams, where recycled material is used as a raw material in the production process. Circularity is a cornerstone of the business, and in collaboration with Stena Recycling, large volumes of industrial waste are transformed into new raw materials.
This contributes to avoiding approximately 5,500 tonnes of CO₂ each year, based on the difference in energy required to produce recycled raw materials compared with virgin resources.
Circular flows in practice
At Stena Recycling’s facilities, production residues are processed using advanced separation and cleaning techniques. The material is then returned as raw material for new use. Metals and aluminium are also separated and reintroduced to the market for new applications.
The recovered wood returns to EGGER as raw material for new panels, while metals and aluminium are given a second life on the market. This is a great example of how circular collaboration works in practice, and I’m truly proud of what we’ve achieved together with EGGER Italy.
